Resettlement Policy and Communications Officer

Salary: Grade 4 SCP 30 – 35 (£33,782 - £38,890)

The Wales Strategic Migration Partnership (WSMP) is hosted by the Welsh Local Government Association and is one of twelve strategic migration partnerships across the UK, funded by the Home Office and the Department for Levelling Up, Communities and Housing, to provide a strategic coordination role across the region/nation.

The WSMP works on several UK Government Humanitarian Protection and migration schemes, including the United Kingdom Resettlement Scheme, Afghan Resettlement Assistance Policy, Afghan Citizens Resettlement Scheme, Community Sponsorship, Asylum Dispersal, National Transfer Scheme for Unaccompanied Children, and the Hong Kong BN(O) Visa Scheme. The WSMP also engages in wider migration issues.

We are looking for an experienced migration professional with the ability to work in partnership with a range of organisations, to support the work of the WSMP.

You will carry out a range of duties including policy development, communications and governance, convening multi-agency, organising and minuting meetings, drafting briefing papers, sharing best practice, and updating the website.

This is an exciting opportunity to join the WSMP and help shape the response to people arriving in Wales   

You should be able to hit the ground running, is able to build excellent working relationships with partners and stakeholders and be confident in communicating with a range of audiences.
You will need to be a flexible and motivated individual who is able to work in a fast-paced environment and adept at responding quickly to change.    
The WSMP is a small team, where the need to work flexibly and collectively across work streams, if required, is crucial to the successful delivery of our work programmes.
