Support for Living Services for People with Learning Disabilities

Improving Lives, Improving Practice

The learning disability sector has been coming together over eighteen months to develop a framework and guidance document to help guide and improve commissioning.

Launched on 5 March with interactive sessions to bring the document to life and to break it down into concrete steps for the sector to take, the event was also an opportunity to be at the start of something that can revolutionise learning disability services and liberate those we support to be at the centre of their care and support. Supported by Cymorth Cymru and Learning Disability Wales, funded by Welsh Government and the National Commissioning Board Wales

  1. Seek commitment to change commissioning practices
  2. Ensure families and service users at centre of process
  3. Influence commissioning practices to focus on ‘a good life’
  4. Use of good practice examples to influence change
  5. Identify opportunities to ensure cost effectiveness and value for money are achievable alongside person centred approaches
