The introduction of Personal Development Review (PDR) can be a potentially sensitive area for members and authorities who have successfully introduced these schemes and have done so at different levels ranging from:
- a light touch review of role and training needs
- to a review of performance approaching a form of appraisal
This guidance provides some principles and a framework for undertaking reviews which can be used by authorities taking a PDR approach and should be adapted for local use. It fits with the requirements for the Wales Charter for Member Support and Development and uses the experience of authorities who have already introduced PDR schemes.
