About the Role

 

The post aims to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of Environmental Health Services, which is central to demonstrating the commitment and positive impact that this service has on our communities in Wales.

The post will undertake and contribute to the development and promotion of strategies and policies to support local government regulatory services in Wales. To provide specialist policy support and advice across all relevant policy areas as they relate to Wales. 

The post will work with the Environmental Health Wales group (EHW) which is a body that represents the Senior Environmental Health Managers of each constituent local authority in Wales. This group works strategically to influence policy and good practice on public health and wellbeing in local communities. This is achieved via a single voice on Environmental Health and enabling activity, undertaken by Local Authorities, their agents, contractors and partners.

This is a national role and involves frequent travel across Wales to engage and collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders including Directors of Public Protection Wales, Welsh Government, WLGA, Chartered Institute of Environmental Health, Office for Product Safety and Standards, Food Standards Agency, Natural Resources Wales, Health & Safety Executive, Public Health Wales, Trading Standards Wales, Trade Union organisations and consumer groups to promote new and emerging public health agendas.

The post holder is the point of contact to coordinate and assist with relevant consultation responses and requests for information from key stakeholder organisations.
