Applications for SHEP 2018

Schools wishing to provide a SHEP programme during summer 2018 should contact their Local Authority SHEP Coordinator or Steering Group.

Local authorities wishing to start up a SHEP should:

  • Identify individuals within your Local Authority with the capacity to form a steering group to manage a SHEP in schools within the Local Authority
  • Set up a steering group including representatives from your local authority education catering service, local authority physical activity/sports providers, local health board dietetics service, local Healthy Schools' team and programme schools as a minimum
  • Identify a Local Authority SHEP Coordinator from within the steering group
  • Target eligible schools (Free School Meals eligibility of greater than 18.2% in primary schools and 17.5% in secondary schools)
  • Complete the Match Funding Application Form, signed by all relevant parties as indicated within the form and submit one form per Local Authority to the WLGA before 26 January 2018.   • The WLGA will inform Local Steering Groups by 9 February 2018 of the decision on the allocation of schools per authority depending on number of local authority submissions received and available funding
